Honduras is located between Guatemala to the north and Nicaragua to the south. It is filled with mountains and rainforest, and has coasts on both the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean. Honduras is roughly the size of Virginia. Honduras is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
Our future home, La Ceiba, is on the Atlantic Ocean, near a part of Honduras called the Mosquito Coast.
La Ceiba is a port city and with a population of over 200,000. It is the third largest city in the country. It is known as the Ecotourism Capital of Central America. Sixty-six percent of the people of La Ceiba live in poverty.
