"A Day Late & Una Lempira Short"

I went to the airport this morning expecting to take a flight to La Ceiba, Honduras to attend the Team Honduras Men’s Retreat.  However, I was turned away at the ticket counter.  Apparently Honduras requires that your passport be valid for 90+ days from the date of entry.  Mine is valid for another 74.  It didn’t matter that I had a return flight within 7 days.  It didn’t matter that I promised to renew my passport real soon (I had proof of an appointment scheduled later this month).  It didn’t matter that I was willing to accept a shortened visa term.

So, I made a trip to the US Embassy and Consulate to apply for an emergency passport.  I was told that emergency passports are intended for travel to the U.S. only.  Nevertheless, I told my sob story and the official had mercy on me.  In less than 90 minutes I received a temporary passport good for 4 months.
I was then able to reschedule my flight for tomorrow morning.  We’ll try this thing again maƱana.
